ABOUT KELSEY

Kelsey E. Hanson is an anthropological archaeologist with broad interests in craft specialization, identity, performance, and religious practice in North America. She is currently engaging with these topics through the study of paint practice, drawing from disciplinary intersections between archaeology, ethnography, and conservation sciences to construct social histories of color production. She also studies changes in metaphors employed in architectural performance spaces--namely through changes in the uses of caves and kivas in the U.S. Southwest.

Kelsey has conducted fieldwork and has held professional positions in the U.S. Midwest, Midsouth, Northern Plains, and the Southwest, as well as Ukraine and Belize.
